E-Portfolio

Hi, this is Ryan, My E-Portfolio is a combination of many different assignments that I have completed over time in my Cornerstone class as well as everything that I use for it in my Capstone class. My E-Portfolio is very important to me because everything that is in it will eventually help me in the future and will allow me to make great use out of it. My E-portfolio that I put together shows the different areas that I am currently studying at UCF as well as the Minors that I have chose.

After I graduate from college with a degree in interdisciplinary studies I hope to use my E-Portfolio while looking for jobs or even looking back and some of the things that I have done. The audience that I will focus more on would probably be the Company or people that choose to hire me for my future job. I hope to share my E-Portfolio with others in the future and show the type of person I am and what I have accomplished over time at UCF.

If I had to choose a few things in which I wanted to stand out the most in my E-Portfolio it would probably be my resume. The resume that I had to put together in my cornerstone class has really helped me allot. I learned how to put a great resume together which I already did and I can now use that when looking for jobs in the future. I would like my portfolio to look very professional. I want to make sure that everything is up to date and in order. If anyone were to look at my E-Portfolio I would hope that they really enjoy reading it and see what I have accomplished.

I could probably use the feedback that I received from other students in my class as evidence. I have had allot of feedback for all of the work that I put together over the semester and it was all very positive.

Kaitlyn-

I think of the e-portfolio as a creative and novel way to present myself that reaches far beyond the unavoidably dull resume. If an employer is truly interested, they don't have to look further than their computer screen to learn about what kind of person you are and whether you might be a good fit for their company. Instead of qualifications, the emphasis is PERSONALITY. I have a page for my personal philosophy, and what I deem the most important contributing factors to my life. I have page illustrating some of my happiest moments--my travels and all of the incredible things I hope to see. I have a page with all the different volunteering I've done, and how they've helped open up my eyes to the world.

While mostly I consider my audience to be a potential employer, I would also like my e-portfolio to be a general personal showcase. I want it to be something I can show family members and friends, and something I can assemble as a proud collection of my accomplishments. I hope to continually update it as my professional and personal lives develop, and in many years, it will be quite a pleasing thing to look back on.

  1. Hey guys it's Nicole. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I wanted to share with you a little something about my e-Portfolio. I am going to target a future employer and make it a quick easy reference to who I am. I want to put a link to my portfolio on my resume, emails, and possible personal business cards. I hope to maintain my e-Portfolio so it will always be interesting and current with my life.

I really want to make my resume stand-out, this will be one of my strong attributes to my e-Portfolio. My resume is already very strong with great experiences in many fields. I intend to always have a professional and personal presence when reading my e-portfolio. Of course I want people to leave wanting to know more about me.

As far as using evidence, I guess I would use my previous work and soon to be projects that I will develop at UCF. I'm excited to create my portfolio. I wish we had a option to add or create a personal graphic design to the e-portfolio. Make it more unique per individual and not just have basic colors.

  2. Ryan,

I am a little confused on the evidence for the e-portfolio. Could you clarify this for me? Also is there a way we could see your e-portfolio just to know you a little bit more? Thanks again for your time Ryan.

    Have a fun weekend,
    Nicole :O)

  3. Hi everyone! My e-Portfolio will demonstrate the knowledge I gain through the Interdisciplinary major. Our major allows us to study many different areas which in turn display our understanding of various subjects. The way the e-Portfolio is designed will allow me to present my accomplishments in the Cornerstone course and eventually in the Capstone course.

The e-Portfolio is going to be a great tool for the future. It will be able to display all of my accomplishments, skills, and knowledge to any employer, coworker, or even family and friends. The main audience I am gearing my e-Portfolio toward is future employers. As I continue to add new documents, pages, and information to my e-Portfolio, I am reminding myself of the purpose and audience that I am presenting.

I envision my e-Portfolio to be organized, easy to navigate, and maybe even exciting to read. I like the way the e-Portfolio is set up, different tabs for each detail about what we have accomplished or learned. I would like it if we had more options to the colors and graphics, making it our own special design. I would really like my resume to stand out. Having a proper resume is the way to gain an interview.

Some things I would be able to use as evidence is the comments from my classmates throughout the semester, or even feedback from my Interdisciplinary Research group. Any accomplishments I receive in my other classes could also be used as evidence.

  4. Hey Nicole!
I liked your idea about putting a link on resumes, business cards, and emails, nice! I also wish we could be a little more creative with colors and graphics. Oh well. Hope everyone is having a fun weekend!

  5. Thanks for the quick feedback everyone. Im glad that we are getting to know one another. The E-Portfolio is very important so make sure you do everything the correct way and submit all of the assignments on time. Nicole I am not able to send you my E-Portfolio but to answer your other question it is very important to save all of your assignments that way you can use it for evidence in the future. You might come across a situation where you will have to show someone your portfolio and by saving all of your work it will help you out allot and show that you really did complete all of these assignments.

  6. Thanks Ryan for the feedback on the evidence! Ya I was just a little confused. I understand a little be now on what the evidence should be. I hope this is a smooth process I don't want to mess anything up.

  7. Hey Kelly!
I wonder if it is possible to be more creative with colors and graphics. Ryan, do you think this could even be a option? I'm sure a lot of people would like to have this option as well. Not sure if I am going out of context with the e-portfolio but just curious on knowing if this could be possible sometime in the near future?

  8. Ryan-
Thanks for clearing up the part about evidence. I'm also glad you let us know to save all of our assignments for our E-Portfolio. I usually save my assignments anyway, but being new to the E-Portfolio, I never thought of saving them there.

  9. Hi everyone, when it comes to the e-Portfolio I think I would have to agree with you Ryan. The area that I would want to stick out the most is my resume. Ever since I was little people would say, if you want a good job you have to make sure you have a good resume.

I would like for my e-Portfolio to start off with a quick bio from what I've learned from when I first started in this major until I graduate. I think it would look good to see the knowledge I have acquired over the last couple of years. Then it would go straight into my resume. I would like it to be right to the point and catch the attention of anyone who looks at my portfolio. I think anyone who has an e-Portfolio should definetly make sure that it is flashy straight forward and has no flaws. Hopefully I will be able to develop a great portfolio.
